What is Sports Massage?

Sports massage therapy is primarily designed to assist and benefit a person through the manipulation of soft tissue (i.e. skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia) in order to correct problems and imbalances caused by repetitive or strenuous physical activity and trauma.

The practice of sports massage is becoming increasingly important in sport and exercise as a tool to not only treat injuries, but act as a preventative measure. Sports massage practitioners are also trained in providing assessment for rehabilitation and supporting patients with the psychological aspects of their pain and maintaining the benefits of treatment through self-management of injuries.
