The Right Treatment for YOU…
Massage therapy has many benefits including helping to relieve tension, reduce anxiety and stress, encourage relaxation, improve mood, aid sleep and generally promote a sense of well-being. However, some people use massage to help them cope with more specific health challenges.
Before proceeding with any treatment plan we will always ensure we start with a thorough assessment and talk you through our suggestions for the best course of treatment for your specific problems or goals.
You can find some of our most popular treatments and what they are most commonly used for below.

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE
Good for: Muscle tension, chronic aches and pains (commonly in neck, upper/lower back, shoulder and leg muscles)
Deep tissue massage is used to help relieve tight muscles, treat acute muscle pain and injury and improve stiffness. It focusses on the inner layers of your muscles, targeting muscle and tendon injuries, pain, and stiffness in your major muscle groups and joints. During a deep tissue massage, your massage therapist will use techniques to relieve tension held in the deepest layers of your muscles and connective tissues.
Deep tissue massage may also help you unwind mentally and reduce anxiety, boosting the body’s release of feel-good hormones like dopamine, serotonin and endorphins.
SPORTS MASSAGE
Good for: Full body, repetitive use injuries, flexibility
Many aspiring and professional athletes have massage while training and competing, in order to stay in optimum condition and aid recovery. Sports massage is a good option if you have a repetitive use injury to a muscle or if you’re prone to injuries, because it can be used to help prevent injuries as well as maintain good muscle condition. You may also use sports massage to increase flexibility and performance.
Additionally, sports massage can be used to relieve pain, anxiety, and muscle tension – and despite the name, is a good option for anyone who suffers from muscle pain from carrying out any repetitive activity, not just sports!

PRE & POST EVENT MASSAGE
Good for: Before and after high intensity activity or competitions (i.e. running, cycling or triathlon events)
A pre-event massage helps prepare the body for physical exertion, increasing your blood circulation and joint flexibility through stimulating the flow of blood and nutrients to the working muscles and stretching the soft tissues. A pre-event massage can form part of the vitally important warm-up prior to physical exertion.
Post-event massage also promotes circulation and reduces tightness within the muscles. The difference is that after exercise the muscles are in a state of fatigue, so post-event massage helps to reduce this fatigue and soreness by increasing the removal of waste products from the muscles and relieving tension.
MAINTENANCE MASSAGE
Good for: Anyone, preventing injury from repetitive activity, minor muscle discomfort
A maintenance massage is a regularly-scheduled massage that you come in for regardless of whether or not you are feeling any pain or tension on that particular day. The aim is to check what is happening with your muscles and address any discomfort that may be building up before it starts to cause any problems.
Maintenance massages can be of benefit to anyone, not just people who exercise or train regularly for a particular sport. They can benefit anyone who finds themselves doing repetitive movements, that over time increase muscle tension and can lead to pain. This includes office workers, those who have stressful or physical jobs or those with young children.
